Chris Marrs, South African Born Professional, started career at age 12 in Phalaborwa South Africa, after successful career as junior at aged 19 playing off +4 he turned Professional and competed in many tournaments worldwide. He grew a passion for Teaching while playing tournament golf, which lead Chris to become a member of the British PGA & South African PGA. He has been teaching at several world-class golf courses and resorts across South Africa, Britain and Europe. Chris has been working with many top amateurs, professionals, and intermediate/beginner golfers throughout his teaching career.

Jeff Olyniec
U.S. PGA Member

Jeff has been a USPGA of America member for 9 years since being elected in the year 2000. Jeff has been a golf instructor at many premier facilities around the globe and former Director of Golf at Palm Island Resort from 2001-2003. He has also worked in and around golf operations and tournament management for the past 17 years.

Jeff received most of his formal teaching career working at Golftec USA, the leading golf instruction company in terms of lessons taught.

Some of Jeff's accomplishments include:

  • One of the first foreign PGA qualified for the 2008 Omega China tour
  • Played on the Philippine tour 1997
  • Asian tour card holder 1999
  • Senior Golf Instructor at Palm Island 2008-Present

Fred Morales
U.S. PGA Member

Fred Morales was born in Havana. Cuba and raised in Miami. Florida (USA). He took up golf at a very early age and progressed through the amateur ranks. At the age of 20 won his first event, the WTMI Golf Classic in Miami Fred is a member of the PGA of America and a graduate of the PGA of America Professional Golf Management Program.

Jason Robertson

Jason was born in Cape Town, South Africa. After trying almost every ball sport there was, he finally took up golf at 17 and was a scratch golfer within 3 years, turning pro at 21 where he competed on the South African golf tours after finishing at 12 under par and 6 place at the Tours Q School, Jason competed in South Africa for 5 full years before heading the USA to play on the east coasts mini tours. It was in the US that Jason found his passion for teaching and took up a position as instructor at the number 1 rated junior golf school in the USA, within 2 years Jason had become a Senior Golf Instructor at the facility. Jason has been teaching at Palm Island Resort since 2005 and is a golf instructor at City Golf Club and IYGL (Improve Your Game Limited).

Tournament Experience:

In 2002, Jason finished the 4th on the order of merit on the Diners Club International Golf Tour after winning the end of season tour championship with a score of 8 under par 282. In 2003, he finished a ranking of overall the 9th place He has then won 3 victories in 2004. His lowest I8-hole golf round is a 10 under par 63, which included 12 birdies in the final 16 holes.

Gao Hui

Gao Hui is graduated from Jiangmen Sports School, China. He has received several high ranking prizes from various open tournaments, while he enjoys his teaching life very much.

Deng Yong Hong
  • Began playing golf in 2000 under the professional guidance under Mr. Jeff Olyneic, USPGA Class A member
  • Qualified as a golf instructor in 2003

  • Ranked No. 38 in China professional golf in 2005

Jamie Du and Tony Fong

Jamie and Tony joined the Palm Island Golf Academy training instructor programme in 2006. They have been in training under PGA professional Shay Smart for last 2 years. All of them have worked very hard on their golf game and teaching skills and are now qualified training instructors. They passed the final training qualification tests in March 2008. As of April 2008, they have joined the Palm Island Golf Academy Instructional team and are available for lessons through our booking office.
